Boarding Kennels for DINOS

Below you’ll find a list of boarding options recommended by the Team DINOS fans on Facebook. Happy Boogie

These boarding kennels have been a good fit for their DINOS, particularly those that are not social with other dogs. Every dog is an individual and there are many types of DINOS, so please keep in mind that what works for one DINOS family, may not work for another.

This list is a great place to start your search and there are a wide range of options below. Some offer small, private home-like boarding, while others are giant resorts with luxury packages. Contact these facilities and ask for a tour. Get to know the staff and find out how they handle dogs of varying temperaments and social skills. Determine if their training and handling skills are a good fit for your dog and in line with your own training/handling philosophies. Here are some questions to ask. Make an informed choice!

The list is always expanding, so be sure to check back and if you’d like to recommend a boarding option, leave a comment or email me: info@notesfromadogwalker.com

So happy to see a couple in Ut, especially one near zions national park. I would highly recommend K9Lifeline in Draper. I have taken the Pack to Basics seminar at K9 Lifeline and find their staff and Heather Beck, owner very educated and their training programs very effective.

We have a training school in Cave Creek (Phoenix) Arizona, that specializes in behavioral issues. We also offer boarding for dogs, including those that are unable to be boarded for “behavior”. Dogs also get outside playtime, and in many cases, socialization as well. Our staff are trained in working with dog issues, and can assist with specific needs.

  4. I’d love some recommendations for the NoVA/DC area. My DINOS has no where to go now that we’ve moved away from awesome Pawtropolis in Georgia 😦

I am the Training Director of Partners Dog Training in Cave Creek AZ.

We offer specialized training in behavior modification, but also offer boarding, dog sports such as agility, dock diving and personal protection.

We have a ten acre facility, with an indoor air conditioned kennel and training center. Dogs get to go outside daily, and also get daily training sessions.
These are normally obedience based, but also could include agility or dock diving.

We use motivational food-reward based training, but also teach that light compulsion is needed. We run about twenty classes a week, and train about 2,000 dogs annually.

We also work extensively with Arizona Siberian Husky Rescue (more than 12 years), Rescue a Golden, German ShepherdRescue, Desert Lab Rescue and Mayday Pitbull Rescue.

  8. Thanks for the shout-out! My business partner Lauren and I started Bronte Pet Services because we both have DINOS (lovely with people, selective/reactive with other dogs, especially on-leash).

Vacation planning always had the added stress of sending our loved ones to a kennel with other dogs they weren’t interested in interacting with…or paying high rates for in-home boarding and still worrying whether the caregivers really understood the special challenges of handling our dogs. We are so happy to provide solutions to DINOS guardians, and can ensure that we have a whole arsenal of tools at our disposal when walking a DINO: treats, clickers, body blocks, preventative street crossing, and even a spray bottle if another dog is persistently ambushing us!

    We love DINOS!

I use Willow Run in Belgrade, Maine. It is a drive for me but I trust them and staff are incredibly understanding. We did short visits at first now my dog can go there comfortably. He is fearful of people and the staff took the time to slowly introduce themselves. I think they literally went through a bucket of treats the first day we went.
I dropped him off for a weekend a few weeks ago and he actually was excited to see one of the staff members, a man!

  10. Love the big list of recommendations, but also the tips on looking for a good dog kennel. It’s definitely important that you trust the kennel or pet boarding company you use!
