Six Tips for Safer, Happier Dog Walking
It’s National Walk Your Dog Week and to celebrate, I got the chance to guest blog for a wonderful nonprofit called Found Animals Foundation.
The folks at FAF totally get DINOS. So they wanted to help spread the message that even though we’re all really excited about Walk Your Dog Week, we still need to remember to be respectful and responsible too.
I love it when the DINOS messages spreads to a new group of dog lovers!
If you’re looking for a polite way to talk to someone you know about their leash problems, my guest blog: Six Tips for Safer, Happier Dog Walking is the perfect intervention. Read it here now.
When you visit the FAF blog to read and share it, don’t forget to let FAF know you appreciate them spreading the DINOS message: DINOS are GOOD dogs, they just need space!
p.s. Need something polite and informative to give to strangers while you’re out dog walking? I got you. Check out my pocket-size handouts on Flickr and now available on Cafe Press.

Its National Walk Your Dog Week!
10/1-10/7 Here are some good tips!
Thanks Judy!
Hello, I love reading your blog and learning about DINOS. My dog is non reactive, but id still call her a DINOS, she is starting to age a bit and is still trying to get over an injury to her knees from last fall. My poor little girl. She is also very protective over her picnics, and I have experienced a few people letting their dog wander over to us even though I tell them she is protective. I will be printing out lots of these cards to hand out around my town.
I can’t wait to read your next blog!
Happy national walk your dog week.
Hi COC, thanks for reading! I totally know what you mean about your gal. I have a senior dog with arthritis who is a non-reactive DINOS too. I hope the cards help folks in your neck of the woods to better understand that lots of dogs need space!
The 2 t-shirts I ordered arrived the other day…..I ordered both in white w/the KEEP BACK MY DOG NEEDS SPACE on front & back…..very comfy & easily read from a short distance away. Eager to try them out on a walk…..it’s been raining here for the last couple of days, so raincoats are necessary…..will be great to wear in dog classes…I won’t have to spend so much time repeating MOVE AWAY, throughout the class. Love our DINOS!!
