notes from a dog walker 
I think you need to add something for children as well… may not always be a dog they react to but sometimes children. I’ve had many children charge up to us with our dogs as I say… “this one does not like to be pet, please stay away from him but you may pet the other” and of course that is the one they choose to try and force interaction with. It is very frustrating when no one even adults can bother to take direction. Makes you want to avoid walking your dogs altogether.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! My dog is a DINOS. I try so hard to tell people they just refuse to listen. I had one woman tell me that “all dogs like her dog”. Really! Ahhhhhhh!

Thank you for this information. I have three dogs and one is definitely a DINOS! She has picked her “dog friends” and that is that. She is always leashed outside of our property or at my friends farm.
These are great hand outs and hopefully you don’t mind if I post them on our walking trails.

We would love to put these up at our shelter! Would you entertain possibly making one that can go up in an establishment by taking out the lines about “zip it” and “keep the nasty comments to yourself?” As much as I strongly agree with you, we would like to keep it as friendly as possible if it is going up in a Humane Society where we are trying to educate. Let me know if that is a possibility as I realize it changes the approach a little. It would be much appreciated!
Hi Karyn, I’d be happy to come up with something that’s a bit more shelter-friendly (I used to work at a shelter too). When I wrote this, I really had no idea how far and wide it would go, so it makes sense to come up with another version. I may not be able to do it right away, but I’ll post it on the blog and on the DINOS Facebook page as soon as it’s ready to print!

I love the idea of T-shirts! Those of us with DINOS could wear them while walking our dogs and MAYBE the MDIFs would figure it out! Have on the back of the shirt:

Really enjoy your blog and facebook. I often share your articles with my clients on Facebook and have referred them to your blog as well. Often clients feels so hurt, embarrassed, humiliated and scared or worried by their dog’s behaviours and I feel that your site provides not only information but comfort to these people that they are not alone and that their dog is not a bad dog, just simply a dog in need of space.

Feeling like you’re the only one is so stressful and I’m thrilled when people discover that, not only are they not alone, but there are a ton of other people who are in the same boat.
